MYTHOPOESIS

16mm film & DV, 12:00, 2009

Mythopoesis is a cinematic essay exploring post-industrial landscapes that are in varying states of urban decay. It presents the concept of the shrinking city as an expanding wilderness, and through various conceptual lenses – among them, historical, mythological and philosophical –presents remembering as a form of forgetting. Language and imagery work dialogically to deconstruct ideas of time and memory; using geographic, cinematic, collective and personal memory to present the psychic memorial as a landscape onto itself.
